The District 6-5A Northshore Golf League Week 6 action took place Thursday at Beau Chene Country Club in Mandeville with the action taking place on the Magnolia Course. The St. Paul's Wolves, the defending state champions, captured their sixth consecutive weekly crown, carding a 306 score with the Wolves earning five of the top 10 finishes, out distancing runner-up Mandeville Skippers by 14-strokes. Ponchatoula came in third at 336 followed by Northshore in fourth at 352. Fontainebleau was fifth at 362 followed by Slidell High at 370. Covington shot 375 followed by Hammopnd at 391.
In the boys individual competition, St. Paul's Thomas Ruli III grabbed the honors, carding a one-over 73. Ruli edged Ponchatoula's Blake Caldwell and Fontainebleau's Ray Poche byone stroke. St. Paul's Beau Briggs was two shots back at 75 followed by Wolves' teammate David Doherty, who came in tied for fifth with Mandeville's Dennis Reynolds at 76. Mandeville's Michael Ferrer took seventh at 78. Northshore's Branden Tiblier was next with an 80 followed by St. Paul's Peter Yaeger in ninth with an 82. Mandeville's Brennan Mercola and Jonathan Meyer tied with St. Paul's Trey Hughes and Ponchatoula's Justin Caldwell at 83.
In the girls competition, Hammond freshman Mary Frances Chauvin won her second straight individual title, firing a three over par 75. Chauvin downed SSA's Savannah Ennis by six strokes followed by Northshore's Catherine Landry, who finished with a 103. Fontainebleau's Ashlyn Suchand was next at 113. Hammond won the girls' crown with a 197, while SSA finished second with a 211 and Fontainebleau took third with a 240 score. This week's District 6-5A Northshore Golf League action takes place tomorrow at Covington Country Club with a 2:30 shotgun start.  

Manuel kicking toward a record

Mandeville freshman scoring sensation Mackenzie Manuel recorded a hat trick yesterday leading the Lady Skippers to an 8-1 victory over the Slidell Lady Tigers. Manuel's season goal total stands at 54. Mackenzie, is the younger sister of Elizabeth Manuel, the former MHS star, who plays for the University of Louisiana Lafayette. Mackenzie Manuel has tied her sister Elizabeth, who notched 54 goals in her season year with the Lady Skippers. Former Mandeville player Delaney Sheehan, a former Gatorade Player of the Year for Louisiana, holds the Mandeville girls' soccer scoring record with 56 goals. Sheehan is playing soccer at Furman University. In yesterday's match, Mandeville's  Hannah Benton tallied two goals, while Isabel Barrios, Mia Dubroc and Caroline Boudreaux chipped in with one goal each for the Lady Skippers. Emily Rone and Jordyn Pellegrin split time in goal and Kimberly Boudreaux was named the top defender. Mandeville, 20-5-1, has three district games remaining.   

St. Paul's hosting Mandeville in key District 6-5A encounter

On the high school football level, tonight's Lake 94.7 broadcast game of the week features the St.
Paul's Wolves, the four-time District 6-5A champ, hosting the 4-1 Mandeville Skippers, at
Hunter Stadium. Pregame airs at 6:45 followed by the 7 o'clock kickoff.
St. Paul's, 3-2, and Mandeville, 4-1, are both atop the District 6-5A standings with 2-0 marks.
Mandeville, a two-time state semifinalist the last two years, was the last team to upend St. Paul's as the district champ, winning the crown back in 2008.
We are only in week six of the regular season, but tonight's game could go a long way to determining the district champ.
St. Paul's is coming off a blowout 62-13 Homcoming victory over the Hammond Tornadoes.
Wolves' junior quarterback Ryan O'Krepki was unstoppable in last week's victory completing
12-of-12 passes for 309 yards with four TDs, while backup QB Kenny Sears, the son of head
coach Ken Sears, saw time finishing, 5-of-7 for 77 yards with a touch. Marcus Gaines caught two
long touchdown passes and finished with 138 receiving yards.
Mandeville routed Fontainebleau, 35-3, at home last week. Skippers' senior quarterback Glen
Cuiellette has completed 63-of-108 passes for 1,110 yards with 12 TDs and five interceptions. 
Cuiellette has a number of quality receivers led by former quarterback Zac Barrient, who enters
with 18 receptions for 374 yards and 3 TDs. Parker Orgeron is next with 16 receptions totaling 268 yards and three scores.
Senior James Treuting is the top Skippers' rusher with 274 yards and two scores. Running back Dominic Liberto leads the Skippers with five touchdowns, four rushing and one receiving.
MHS' Mason Lemieux recorded seven tackles, four solo in last week's win, which included a
10-yard sack, two stops for losses and two QB hurries. Jonathan Picone registered six tackles
with a 13-yard sack and two plays for losses.

St. Tammany Parish volleyball results

In local volleyball action, the Northshore Lady Panthers upped their district record to 5-1 and
8-9 overall, sweeping Slidell, 25-14, 25-20, 25-13 led by the consistent play of Hailey
Kirkpatrick, who polished off a match-high 20 kills with 9 digs, and 5 aces. Hannah Epperley
delivered 27 assists and 5 digs, while Adora Anadi contributed 6 kills with 2 blocks. Kacie
Brandt finished with 6 kills and Katherine Cognevich netted 5. Slidell's Erica Bennett
knocked down 6 kills followed by Jaslyn Bright with 5. Riley Herdliska connected for 18 assists
and Kacie Livingston pulled up 6 digs to pace the Lady Tigers, who slipped to 1-5 in district
play.
Mandeville's Lady Skippers evened their district mark at 3-3, topping the Covington Lady Lions,
by identical 25-9 scores in all three sets. MHS, 8-12 overall, was led by Caroline Hasse with 9
kills and 6 blocks. Marissa LeCompte netted six kills and added four blocks as the Lady Skippers
controlled play at the net. Sarah Rinaudo contributed 18 assists with four aces. Ali LeBlanc finished with 9 digs followed by Amber Sheffield with 5. Covington, 6-12, had 10 kills from Douglisha Hamilton with Bella Biondini passing off for 10 assists. Donna Montgomery added 8 digs for the Lady Lions.
Mandeville hosts the Ponchatoula Green Wave tomorrow afternoon at 5 in a Pink Game to benefit the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center fund.
The Lakeshore Lady Titans topped SSA, 25-18, 25-22, 25-17 at home yesterday. Lakeshore moved
to 24-4 and 3-0 in district. SSA, 16-9, suffered its first district loss and is  2-1.
Lakeshore's Raven Daniels, Madison Grapp and Skylar Pepper delivered five kills each, while
Grapp netted 14 assists. Brooke Blackshear served five aces and Daniels added 3. Daniels
also had 5 blocks and Grapp added 4. Kacie Freeman pulled up 17 digs with three aces. Julia
Dean contributed 6 blocks.
SSA's Maddie Morris topped the Doves with 5 kills, 5 digs and 3 aces. Alexis Barcia and
Jessica Lucio added four kills each. Emma Estapa totaled 18 assists with six digs, while Natalie
Helm pulled up 3 digs with 3 blocks.  Northlake Christian School 18-8 and 1-1 in district returns to action this afternoon on the road against District foe Archbishop Hannan. The varsity only match gets underway at
4 o'clock.
