New Orleans Pelicans drop sixth straight contest, falling to the San Antonio Spurs



The New Orleans Pelicans dropped hung tough last night, but still dropped their sixth straight game being trimmed by the San Antonio Spurs 101-95 at the Arena. Anthony Davis topped the Pelicans posting another double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds, totaling six boards on the offensive end. Brian Roberts netted 19 points, hitting on 3-of-5 3-pointers followed by Eric Gordon with 12 and Austin Roberts with 11 in the losing effort. The Pelicans led 52-51 at the half and only trailed 76-73 entering the fourth quarter. San Antonio's Tony Parker led the way with 27 points and seven assists as the Spurs placed five players in double figures, while Tim Duncan contributed 18 points with nine rebounds before fouling out. Former New Orleans player guard Marco Belinelli netted 12 points including two 3-pointers. Manu Ginobli added 14 points and Kawhi Leonard netted 13 as the Spurs moved to 30-8. The Pelicans, 15-22, host the 25-14 Houston Rockets tomorrow night in a 7 o'clock tip off.

New Orleans Pelicans upended by San Antonio Spurs ending three-game winning streak


The New Orleans Pelicans the winners of their last three games took it on the chin on the road last night as the San Antonio Spurs rolled to a 112-93 victory moving to 13-1 on the season. Ryan Anderson led the Pelicans with 17 points, while Jrue Holiday chipped in with 12 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in the road loss. Tyreke Evans added 12 points with nine rebounds and three assists. Anthony Davis was held to just 10 points with with six rebounds, but added four blocked shots. Austin Rivers added 10 points. The Pelicans struggled from the field hitting just 38.1 percent of their two-point shots and only made 2-of-15 three-point attempts, a meager 13.1 percent. Manu Ginobili came off the bench and topped the Spurs with 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting as San Antonio shot 54 percent from the floor as they built a 57-40 halftime advantage. Tim Duncan contributed 10 points, five rebounds and three blocks. The 6-7 Pelicans return home and host the Golden State Warriors tonight in the Arena with a 7 o'clock tip off.
