NCS boys basketball downed by French Settlement

Northlake Christian School Wolverines' basketball team came up short yesterday on the road, falling to French Settlement 57-40. Josh O'Rear topped the Wolverines with nine points, eight rebounds and four steals. Matt Whelan and Riley Risher added six points each as the Wolverines slipped to 0-2. Whelan connected on two 3-pointers and added three rebounds, while Risher hauled in seven boards. NCS struggled from the field, hitting just 12-of-41 two-point attempts, shooting only 28.1 percent.

NCS boys basketball drops opener to Albany

In local high school basketball action, the Northlake Christian School Wolverines boys basketball team dropped their season opener Saturday being edged by Albany 51-46. Josh O'Rear, the Wolverines' starting QB, who helped lead his team to an 11-1 season and a District 72A crown, registered a double-double with a team-high 18 points and 10 rebounds. O'Rear also collected four steals, while fellow football player Matt Miller added 12 points with three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
