Second annual Covington High Golf Tournament

The Second annual Darryl Graham/Alan Heisser Golf Tournament took place yesterday at Beau
Chene Country Club in Mandeville. Lions' athletic director and golf coach Darryl Graham said it
was a nice tournament and it went well as they were able to raise funds for a good cause with the
proceeds going to the CHS Athletic Departments. Graham said, "It got a little warm towards the end,
but that always happens this time of the year."
Graham thanked all of the Lions' coaches and other volunteers for their tremendous support
along with the generous sponsors, who helped make the tournament a success again this year.
Graham also remembered to thank his wife, Gina, his unofficial secretary, who helps keep coach on track, making sure everything gets done prior to and during the annual tournament.
Nineteen teams competed in the four-man scramble tourney. The team of Kevin Burns, Keith Burns, Eric Davis and Norman Graham, coach Graham's brother, captured the tournament title after being declared the winners using the tie breaker rule with the score on the back nine being used to determine the winner.
The victors fired a 12-under 60, tying with the team, composed of Darryl Graham and his three
sons, Brad, Duane and Josh. The victors shot 30 on the back nine, while the runner-up came in at
31 with Beau Chene Country Club golf pro Fred Schroeder and assistant golf pro Andy Smith
using the tie breaker to name the first place team. The annual Covington High Golf tourney,
which takes place the final Monday in July, also featured two longest drive competitions won by
Ryan Core and Chris Hnatyshyn, while Jay Caserta and Jordan Ricks won the closest to the hole
contests.
