The New Orleans Pelicans reeling from a six-game losing streak return to the hardwood tonight
hosting the Houston Rockets in a 7 o'clock tip off at the Arena. New Orleans, 15-22, are coming
off a tough 101-95 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. The Pels' Anthony Davis continues to step
up his game as he registered a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Davis has
emerged as one of the league's most consistent offensive players this season, averaging a
double-double with 19.6 points per outing and 10.3 rebounds. He also delivers 3.1 blocked
shots per game. The Pelicans continue their struggles with sharp shooting Ryan Anderson out
with a herniated disk and point guard Jrue Holiday out of the lineup, while Tyreke Evans
battles an ankle injury. Shooting guard Eric Gordon needs to step up his scoring pace to
take up some of the slack. Gordon is averaging 16 points per game with 3.1 assists. The 25-14
Houston Rockets downed the Pelicans 107-98 back on Dec. 28 in Houston with Dwight Howard
dominating play with 24 points and 18 rebounds. Howard is averaging 18.3 points per outing
picking up 12.7 boards in the process. The Rockets are led by James Harden, scoring 24.6 points per game.
