Saints linebacker Martez Wilson injured

Injuries usually play a big part during the course of the NFL preseason and rugged 16-game
regular season and through the playoffs. The New Orleans Saints got bit by the injury bug
yesterday with linebacker Martez Wilson going out at yesterday's practice after injuring his
left elbow. The Saints' backer is expected to miss two to four weeks according to league
sources. Wilson, who is being counted on to be a key part of new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan's
3-4 scheme will miss crucial time early in training camp. Wilson should be back in time for the start of
the regular season as the Saints kick things off Sept. 8, hosting the Dirty Birds from Atlanta.
The Saints are already without the services of  linebacker Victor Butler, who tore an ACL during
organized team activities. The old adage of next man up is true and it will be interesting to
see, who can do that at the key linebacker position. Could it be former defensive end Will
Smith, who has transitioned to linebacker?
