The 11-2 Archbishop Hannan Hawks, the No. 4 seed, continue their preparations for this week's LHSAA Division III championship game encounter with the No. 2 seed Cavalry Baptist Cavaliers. The Hawks under fourth-year head coach Pat Lambert have made a superb showing to this point posting three impressive playoff victories earning the right to compete for the Division III state crown under the newly designed LHSAA playoff format. Hannan treated its home fans to a regional round victory with the Hawks rolling past No. 13 Westminster 61-20 and followed up with a 42-14 quarterfinal win over district rival Pope John Paul II playing on the road.Archbishop Hannan's biggest win came against No. 1 seed and previously unbeaten Episcopal Knights 12-7 at home in the Division III semifinal game. Coach Lambert said his Hawks continue to remain focused on the task at hand. "This one is extra special because its the last one for our special group of 14 seniors. Its kind of like a dream. This is what they have been working for during the last four years and they have just one more game to go," Lambert said. Lambert added that a number of his players watched the Saints' Sunday night victory over the Carolina Panthers and talked about how special it is going to be playing in the Superdome in the championship game.
