New Orleans Pelicans hold off Detroit Pistons for 111-106 overtime victory

The New Orleans Pelicans evened their record at 10-10 last night in nail-biting fashion before the home crowd holding off the visiting Detroit Pistons 111-106 in overtime behind a balanced scoring attack and excellent play from Ryan Anderson and a career-night from Jason Smith. Anderson, the team's leading scorer at 22.2 points per game, dropped in 22 points and made 4-of-12 three-pointers including two clutch  treys down the stretch, which helped lead the Pels to the win over the 10-13 Pistons. Smith also netted 22 points, but more importantly pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds with two blocked shots. Point guard Jrue Holiday delivered 19 points with eight assists and two steals. The Pelicans got a bonus last night when Tyreke Evans, who was expected to be out of the lineup for a week or two with a sprained ankle, returned without missing a game and finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists, adding depth to the attack. Eric Gordon hit for 14 points and dished off six assists. Al-Faroug Aminu came up big tallying 11 points with 14 rebounds including six on the offensive end. The Pelicans out rebounded the Pistons 51-43 on the boards. The Pelicans take on the visiting Memphis Grizzlies tomorrow night at 7 o'clock in the Arena.
