In local NBA developments, the New Orleans Pelicans announced yesterday that second-year power forward Anthony Davis will be out of the lineup for four to six weeks after suffering a broken hand in Sunday's 103-99 road victory over the New York Knicks. Davis, who underwent further evaluation by team doctors yesterday, was diagnosed with a non-displaced fracture of the fifth metacarpel of his left hand. The fracture is in his pinky finger of his non-shooting hand. Davis was injured when he slammed his hand on the rim during an alley-oop attempt against the Knicks. Davis had established himself as a major threat during the early season, averaging a double-double, scoring 18.8 points per game with 10.2 rebounds per outing, while collecting 3.6 blocks per game. Pels' forward Ryan Anderson tops the team averaging 22.6 points per game and is shooting 55.6 percent from behind the 3-point arc, connecting on 35-of-63 attempts. Anderson netted a career-high 36 points in Monday's 131-128 triple overtime road victory over the Chicago Bulls. The 9-8 Pelicans coming off an exhilarating 131-128 triple overtime victory over the Chicago Bulls Monday take to the court tonight hosting the Dallas Mavericks and Dirk Nowitski in a 7 o'clock tip off in the Arena.
