No. 14 seed Covington High hosting No. 2 seed Parkway in Class 5A semifinal football playoff game

The 9-4 Covington High Fighting Lions, the surprising No. 14 seed, continue their preparations as they are ready to host the No. 2 undefeated 12-0 Parkway Panthers in the Class 5A semifinals of the state football playoffs tomorrow night at Jack Salter Stadium. Tomorrow's semifinal kickoff is set for 7 o'clock.
Covington continued its pursuit for a possible state title last week, downing the No. 11 seed Central of Baton Rouge, 20-14 led by running back Joshua Bickham, who turned in a solid effort, rushing for two touchdowns, gaining 118 yards on 21 carries. Garrald McDowell also tallied on a one-yard run, picking
up 27 yards on six carries. Senior running back C. J. Sims, the Lions' all-purpose back, who leads the team in rushing with 1,475 yards and 15 touchdowns and 423 catches for 674 yards with five scores, was bothered by an ankle injury last week and only carried the ball two times for two yards. The Lions' defense continued its strong play as the unit intercepted three passes to help secure last week's quarterfinal victory to advance.
