LSU senior QB Zach Mettenberger is out for the season after suffering a knee injury against Arkansas. |
LSU senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger has played his last game for the Tigers after suffering a season-ending knee injury. Mettenberger was injured during the fourth quarter of the Tigers' 31-27 come-from-behind victory over Arkansas last Friday in Death Valley. Mettenberger, who became just the third player in LSU history to pass for 3,000 yards in a season this year, finishes up his career ranked in the top 10 in six passing categories. Third in completion percentage at 61.7 percent, third in yards per game 192.8, fifth in touchdowns with 35, sixth in yards 5,783, sixth in completions 407, and seventh in attempts 659.
Mettenberger threw for 3,082 yards this season third in school history with 22 touchdowns and his 64.9 completion percentage ranks him third highest in the Tigers' record book. Mettenberger is the only player in LSU history to pass for 2,500 or more yards in back-to-back seasons and he finished his career with a 19-6 record as a starter.
In other Tiger developments, head coach Les Miles announced yesterday that true freshman running back Jeryl Brazil is no longer with the LSU football program. Brazil, who was indefinitely suspended from the team for an on-campus incident in October, was never reinstated to the program following that suspension. Brazil from Loranger only played one game that coming against UAB. `
