NHS' Mike Bourg recovering

Northshore Panther head football coach Mike Bourg is at home resting following his quadruple
bypass heart surgery last week. We want to wish coach Bourg a speedy recovery and look forward
to him returning to the Panthers' sideline at some point. Let's all keep coach Mike Bourg, his
wife Donna and their three children, Sydney, Blaine and Gracie in our prayers.
Northshore athletic director Tom Gainey, who is coaching the Panthers' freshman team, said Mike
Labourdette, the club's defensive coordinator, has been named the interim head coach until
Bourg is able to return. Gainey said coach Bourg  had the table set for the Panthers and everybody
on the coaching staff is stepping up in his absence. Gainey added, the coaches are picking
it up and carrying out the plan.
Coach Bourg's daughter, Sydney, who is entering her senior year at Northshore, plays shortstop
for the Lady Panthers and for the Louisiana Patriots travel team. She was out of town competing in
a USA Nationals tournament in Reno, Nevada when her dad took ill. The Patriots finished third overall in the Silver bracket, going 6-3. Bourg got the job done at the plate hitting .357 with an on base percentage of .470.
The Louisiana Patriots also earned an impressive ninth place finish in the nation, competing in
the ASA Gold Nationals in Clearwater, Florida. It was the highest finish any Louisiana Team has
ever had in the prestigious tournament, according to head coach Darryl Landry.
Assistant coach Randy Carter said Sydney Bourg was and is a big part of the success the team
achieved. After returning to be at her dad's side she made it to Florida to help lead her
team to the ninth place finish, showing her commitment and dedication to her teammates.
