SLU soccer wins in double overtime

Southeastern Louisiana University's soccer team won its second consecutive game yesterday,
taking a thrilling 2-1 double-overtime victory over Louisiana-Lafayette at Ragin' Cajun Soccer
Complex.
With less than four minutes remaining in the second OT, Lady Lions' senior Kelsey Salcido
put home a corner kick from freshman Alexis Cable.
SLU coach Blake Hornbuckle said, "With a young team playing in its first road match, we knew we
would face some obstacles."
"We absorbed the pressure from a very good Louisiana-Lafayette team. Both teams played
well, but we were just able to persevere in the  second overtime," Hornbuckle said.
The Lady Lions moved to 2-0 after opening with a 3-1 home victory over Jackson State in the
season opener, winning the first soccer match in Strawberry Stadium history.
Southeastern continues its road swing taking on Mississippi Valley State on Friday.
Turning to SLU volleyball, the Lady Lions volleyball Green and Gold scrimmage is scheduled
for tonight at 7 at the University Center. The event is open to the public free of charge as
will all home volleyball matches during the season.
