SLU Ron Roberts Radio Show debuts

Southeastern Louisiana University head coach Ron Roberts, beginning his second season with the
Lions, debuted his radio show last night at Tope La Catering in Hammond.
The one-hour radio show is being aired on two of The Lake's sister stations, The Joint 104.7 in Covington and Kajun 107.1 in Hammond.
Roberts previewed the season along with host Allan Waddell. The Lions kickoff the season
Thursday night in Strawberry Stadium, hosting the Southeast Missouri Redhawks in the initial
meeting between the two clubs.
Coach Roberts said he, his staff, players and Lions' fans are anxious to get the season
started and are excited about the upcoming prospects for the year.
Roberts, who guided the Lions to a 5-6 mark and 5-2 Southland Conference record last season,
said this year's club has more depth and that is cause for lots of excitement. Roberts urged fans to Lion Up!
SLU has a number of former Northshore players on the roster and he named a few of them including
Covington High punter senior Matt McCormick, who will handle the Lions' punting chores in the
opener.
Roberts also mentioned that junior Justin Church, a Fontainebleau High grad, has moved
from defensive end to a linebacker position. Another FHS grad and teammate of Church's,
defensive end Scott Korte, the son of former Saints' offensive lineman Steve Korte, is back
in the Lions' fold at defensive end. Roberts also said he likes what he sees from
former Northshore High player sophomore Josh Dakin, who shines as a special team's player.
Other St. Tammany Parish players on the Lions'  roster include Covington High sophomore
offensive lineman Joe Graves, St. Paul's junior linebacker Tyler Tourelle, Slidell High freshman
receiver James Donaldson, Northshore High sophomore D-lineman Terangi Phifer and Northlake
Christian School freshman long snapper Reid Shorter.
