New England Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady jaws with official after a controversial non-call ending the Monday Night game against Carolina won by the Panthers 24-20.
Cam Newton put on a clutch performance last night sparking the Carolina Panthers to a key 24-20 Monday Night Football victory over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. On the final play of the game, Brady attempted to hit tight end Ron Gronkowski in the end zone, but the ball was intercepted. On the play however, instant replay showed Carolina linebacker Luke Kuechly clearly held and impeded Gronkowski with the back judge throwing a penalty flag, which the Patriots thought they might be the beneficiaries
of a holding or pass interference call. Unfortunately for the Patriots, after a quick officials' conference, the flag was waived off on a controversial non-call, ending the game. On the way to the locker room, a frustrated Brady, had some stern words for the officiating crew. New England coach Bill Belichik was asked
numerous times during his post game interview whether he was given an explanation by the officials in which he responded, no.
Carolina, 7-3, won its sixth straight game and now trails the 8-2 New Orleans Saints by just one game in the NFC South Division race.
Newton, 19-of-29 for 209 yards, rifled three TD passes including a game-winning 25-yard toss to Ted Ginn, Jr., who broke a tackle and fought his way into the end zone with just 59 seconds remaining. Brady and the Pats had one last opportunity driving down the field, but came up short.
