The 5-0 Saints continue their preparations for the 4-1 New England Patriots as Sean Payton and
Patriots' coach Bill Belichick get ready to match wits. The Saints are off to their fourth 5-0 start to a season having achieved that record back in 1991, 1993 and then in the Black & Gold's Super Bowl season of 2009.
Saints' QB Drew Brees is having a career season, completing 140-of-201 attempts, 69.7 percent for 1,722 yards with 12 TDs and four interceptions. Brees is second in NFL passing yardage behind Denver's Peyton Manning, who has thrown for 1,884 yards, leading the Broncos to a 5-0 mark..
Tight end Jimmy Graham has been Brees' favorite target with 37 receptions for 593 yards and six
touchdowns. Graham leads the NFL in receiving yards followed by Atlanta's Julio Jones, who
suffered an ankle injury Monday Night against the New York Jets, in the Falcon's 30-28 loss.
Graham is averaging 16 yards per catch. Brees has utilized his backs quite a bit in the
passing game. Pierre Thomas is second on the team with 28 catches and two TDs, coming in last
week's 26-18 victory over the Chicago Bears.
Darren Sproles enters Sunday's game with the Patriots totaling 26 catches and a score.
Marques Colston has 23 receptions, averaging 13.6 yards per catch and a TD.
In Thursday Night NFL action, the New York Giants, 0-5, travel to the 3-2 Chicago Bears for
a battle at Soldier Field.
Former LSU player Patrick Peterson, a starter in the Arizona Cardinals' defense, is currently
second in the NFL with three interceptions one behind three other players, who have four picks.
