St. Scholastica Academy volleyball participated in the Newman Tournament over the weekend turning in a solid performance. SSA, 16-8 overall, topped the host Newman Greenies, 25-18, 25-22 Saturday. Natalie Helm led the Doves with five kills, three aces, two digs and a block. Maddie Morris contributed four kills
with six digs and three aces. Emma Estapa netted 15 assists and Gabby Chaix added two kills with
two blocks. Ellen Feringa chipped in with three aces and pulled up three digs. SSA came up short falling to Ascension Episcopal Saturday, 25-15, 25-18. Estapa finished with 16 assists and four digs for the Doves. Alexis Barcia and Jessica Lucio led the way with four kills each, while Helm and Morris delivered three kills each.
In Friday's action, SSA downed Morgan City, 25-11, 25-20 with Estapa handing off 16 assists
with four digs and four aces, while Helm put down five kills. SSA topped Westminster, 25-6,
25-11. Helm delivered six aces and Chaix registered six kills with two aces. Jessica
Bourgeois added five digs and two aces for the Doves.
