A number of Northshore teams remain unbeaten at 2-0

A number of Northshore local high school football teams remained unbeaten Friday night in week 2 of the young season.
Northshore's Panthers being coached by interim head coach Mike LaBourdette turned in a shutout,
blanking Chalmette 38-0, moving to 2-0. Bryce Perez rushed for 96 yards with two touchdowns.
QB Dalvin Populist finished 7-of-11 for 168 yards finding K. J. Hopkins for two scores.
Brandon Ballard recorded seven tackles with five assists and Dominic Ambo had an interception for
the Panthers, who travel to Salmen this week.
Slidell kept coach Larry Favre unbeaten at 2-0 in his return to the coaching ranks with the
Tigers registering a convincing 35-0 win over Bonnabel. Montel Williams took care of business
rushing for four touchdowns. Slidell hosts Lakeshore Friday.
The Titans also moved to 2-0 downing Fontainebleau 31-16 at Titan Coliseum with Robby
Nicklas returning the opening kickoff 92 yards for a score. Nicklas also caught a 60-yard TD
pass from QB Dylan Fields, who finished 15-of-24  for 238 yards. Fields also found Rex Shepherd
for a TD toss.
Pope John Paul II moved to 2-0 earning a 27-7 victory over Pearl River with Blayne Haro
connecting with Mason Klotz for two scores at Lester Latino Field. The Jags recognized local
area first responders prior to the game for their community service in commemoration of
9/11. PJP II travels to Newman Friday.
Northlake Christian School recorded its second consecutive shutout rolling past Cohen 41-0 at
home. Senior quarterback Jason O'Rear found Stefon McElveen for a 35-yard score and ran one
in from five yards out. McElveen also tallied on a 45-yard interception return. Taylor
Mussachia scored twice and rushed for 74 yards, while Matt Miller tacked on a 12-yard TD.
The Wolverines, 2-0, host Pearl River Friday night.
Archbishop Hannan remained unbeaten at 2-0 cruising past Grace King 45-8 at home. The
Hawks' senior signal caller Korey Zeigler found Kyle Sewald from 38-yards out and ran one in
from six yards. Jason Brooks contributed two TDs, while Ryan Hensarling gained 64 yards rushing and scored from three yards. Bruce DiMartino chipped in with a seven-yard TD. 
Hannan travels to the Southshore Friday to battle De La Salle.
