SLU's Roberson earns Southland Conference honor

Southeastern Louisiana University plays its third consecutive road game this week as the
Lions travel to Samford for a 2 o'clock kickoff.
The Lions, 1-2, came up short Saturday on the road falling to the highly regarded No. 6 South
Dakota State Jackrabbits 34-26. The Lions held a 13-7 halftime advnatage, but couldn't hold on.
Lions' sophomore return man Xavier Roberson was named the Southland Conference Special Teams
Player of the Week announced yesterday by the league office.
Roberson, from Atlanta, is the first Lion to receive recognition from the conference this
season. It is the second career weekly honor for Roberson, who was named the Southland Offensive
Player of the Week on Nov. 12th of last year.
Roberson put on a solid display in Saturday's lost to South Dakota State averaging 38.4 points
per return including an 82-yard kickoff return for a score in the third quarter. In just 17
career returns, Roberson has a school record three touchdowns, previously held by Keylam
Davis.
This season, Roberson tops the Southland Conference and is ranked fourth in the Football
Championship Subdivision with 41 yards per return.
