LSU stops TCU in opener

The LSU Fighting Tigers, ranked No. 12 in the nation according to the AP preseason poll got
their season off on the right foot Saturday night on the road downing No. 20 ranked TCU
37-27.
Senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger completed 16-of-32 passes for 251 yards and a touchdown.
Jarvis Landry hauled in eight receptions for 109 yards, averaging 13.6 yards per catch including
a 20-yard TD. Odell Beckham Jr., latched on to five Mettenberger passes, totaling a team-high 118
yards with an impressive 23.6 yards per catch with a long-gainer of 44 yards.
The Tigers debuted a strong running game with senior running back Terrance Magee a former
Franklinton Demons quarterback and previously little used talent delivered a breakout game
tallying two touchdowns on runs of 52 and 3 yards, gaining a team-high 95 yards on 13
carries.
Alfred Blue made a big contribution picking up 89 yards on 19 rushes. Beckham also had two
carries, gaining 18 yards and returned four kickoffs, averaging 34 yards per return.
The Tigers finished with 197 yards rushing, averaging 4.1 yards per carry as former
suspended running back Jeremy Hill did not see action in the opener.
Tiger red-shirt freshman place kicker Colby Delahoussaye clicked on all three of his field
goal attempts and was true on all four of his extra points to account for 13 of LSU's points.
LSU is at home Saturday taking on the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Death Valley.
