St. Paul's battles Jesuit in the Dome

The Lake 94.7 will be in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome tonight broadcasting the St. Paul's
Wolves versus the Jesuit Blue Jays in the opening game of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Prep
Showdown. The pregame show takes to the air at 5:45 today followed by the broadcast of the
game, beginning at 6 o'clock.
Game two in the Showcase event, which will not be broadcast on The Lake, pits the defending Class 2A state champion John Curtis Patriots squaring off with an out of state opponent taking on St. Thomas
Aquinas out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Tonight marks the third consecutive year that St. Paul's is playing in the Dome during week
two of the season as part of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Prep Showcase.
We had St. Paul's head coach Kenny Sears, who is in his 15th season running the program, and nine
of his players on the Northshore Sports radio show last night from WOW Cafe in Covington and
they appear confident and ready to go as they head to the Dome.
St. Paul's opened the season last Friday at home suffering a 34-12 loss to nationally ranked and
highly regarded Karr Cougars at Hunter Stadium.
Jesuit under seventh-year head coach Wayde Keiser got their season off on a winning note taking down the Ponchatoula Green Wave 28-23. Tonight's contest between St. Paul's and Jesuit's is their initial meeting on the football field although the school's have quite a history in the Division I state soccer playoffs.
