The Heart of a Lion Fall World Series, which features five games, is underway at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
In game one played yesterday, Lions' junior right hander Andro Cutura, a Pearl River High
School graduate, tossed six innings of no-hit ball, helping lead the Anchormen to a 5-1 victory
over the Grit. Cutura had good velocity with his fastball throwing in the low 90's as he registered four strikeouts in a superb outing.
Anchormen second baseman Kevin Carr plated a pair of runs as the Anchormen tallied three runs
in the third inning to take a 4-0 advantage.
Grit hurler, senior Matt Pittari, a Fontainebleau High grad, took the loss.
Grit freshman outfielder Jacob Seward broke up the no-hitter with a sharp single to left with two outs in the eighth inning. The Grit got on the board in the ninth inning. Kyle Bracey singled and Ponchatoula's Ryan Byers drove him home with a triple.
Game 2 of the series is scheduled for tomorrow night at 6. The remaining games will be played next Monday, Wednesday and  Thursday. Each game gets underway at 6 o'clock with the exception of the final contest, game five on Thursday Oct. 31, which starts at 5 p.m.on Halloween night. There is no admission charge to attend the games.
