LSU's Odell Beckham, Jr. leads nation in all-purpose yardage

LSU junior standout receiver Odell Beckham, Jr., who starred at Newman High in New Orleans, is having a superb season and leads the nation in all-purpose yardage, while senior signal caller Zach Mettenberger leads the SEC in passing and is fourth in the nation in passing efficiency.
Beckham is averaging 228.2 yards per game through six games, helping lead the Tigers to a 5-1 start only suffering a heartbreaking 44-41 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs.
Beckham has 35 receptions, totaling 686 yards, averaging 19.9 yards per reception with six TDs. Beckham is No. 5 in the nation in receiving yards and No. 8 in receiving touchdowns. He is one of four LSU players, who rank among the Top 10 in the nation in at least one statistical category.

He was selected the SEC Offensive Player of the Week Monday for his 340 yard passing effort with two TDs to Beckham in a key victory over Mississippi State. LSU junior receiver Jarvis Landry, who injured an ankle last week, stands at No. 4 in the nation in receiving TDs with a team-high seven and is ninth in receiving yards with 616. He leads the Tigers with 42 receptions.
Sophomore running back Jeremy Hill has nine rushing touchdowns, putting him second in the nation. Hill, averaging 118.8 rushing yards per game, puts him second in the SEC and No. 11 in the nation.
The No. 10 ranked Tigers return to action hosting No. 17 Florida in Death Valley Saturday with a 2:30 kickoff. Florida is 4-1 and 3-0 in SEC play, while the Tigers enter at 5-1 overall and 2-1.
