The 2013 USA Today Sports Coaches Poll has released its Top 25 and the LSU Tigers find
themselves in the middle of the pack as the No. 13th ranked team in the country. Last season,
the Tigers compiled a 10-3 record finishing at No. 12. Coach Les Miles and his Tigers kick off the season Aug. 31st on the road, taking on No. 20 TCU.
The SEC dominated the top 10 with five schools tabbed including Nick Saban's Alabama Crimson
Tide being selected as the lopsided No. 1 team, garnering 58 of the 62 first place votes with
1,545 points by the panel of Division I collegiate coaches. Bama is searching for its third consecutive
national title and fourth in five years. The Ohio State Buckeyes are picked No. 2 and earned three
first place votes followed by Oregon with Stanford ranked No. 4. The SEC picked up the next three rankings with the Georgia Bulldogs selected fifth. Texas A & M featuring last year's Heisman Trophy winner,
Johnny Manziel, "Johnny Football," who continues to undergo off-field scrutiny with his actions,
is picked sixth and received one first place vote. South Carolina is seventh. Rounding out
the Top 10 is Clemson at No. 8 followed by Louisville with the Florida Gators coming in at No. 10.
