The New Orleans Saints continue their march towards opening the season Sept. 8 hosting their feisty NFC South Division rival Atlanta Falcons.
The Saints still have some unfinished business with two preseason games remaining. The Saints, 2-0, at the Dome in the preseason, now take to the road and square off with the 2-0 Houston Texans as they step up in class following victories over the Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders at home.
Saints' QB Dree Brees appears to be in mid-season form. In last week's 28-20 victory over Oakland, the Saints' captain, completed 14-of-18 passes for 202 yards with a 16-yard scoring strike to rookie Kenny Stills, who continues to impress the coaching staff. Stills out of Oklahoma appears to be one of the main guys to take over for injured Joe Morgan. Stills caught four passes for a team-high 64 yards including a long gainer of 23 yards to go with his touchdown reception. Darren Sproles continues to be a major part of the Saints' offense as he caught a team-high five passes, covering 35 yards.
Brees said he is looking for a physical contest as the Saints travel to Houston. Brees went on to say you better buckle up the chin strap.
Wide receiver Marques Colston continues to battle a lingering foot injury that has bothered him throughout training camp.
Colston was second on the team last year with 83 catches, just two receptions behind tight end Jimmy Graham. Colston topped the Saints in yardage and touchdowns with 1,154 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.
