SLU opens season hosting Southeast Missouri

Southeastern Louisiana University kicks off the season tonight finally giving Lions' fans an
opportunity to do some tailgating outside of Strawberry Stadium leading into the opener with
the Southeast Missouri Redhawks
Kick off is set for 7 o'clock.
Southeast Missouri finished 3-8 last season, dropping their final three games. SLU completed a 5-6 campaign in coach Roberts' first year, going 5-2 in Southland Conference play.
Junior quarterback Bryan Bennett, the Oregon tranfer, described as a dual threat by head
coach Ron Roberts, gets the starting nod for the Lions. Bennett, 6-foot-3, 205-pounds, played in
18 games for the Ducks.
The Lions, who have gone 9-1 in home openers since the football program returned in 2003, are
anxious to get the season underway as this year's version of the Lions has more depth than
last season.
Strawberry Stadium features a new 14 by 24-foot high-definition video board, which is sure to add excitement to the Lions' football experience.
