In local volleyball action yesterday,
Fontainebleau topped Covington, 25-18, 25-16, 25-13 to move to 4-0 in district and 12-5 overall winning its ninth consecutive match game. FHS' Megan Zulli delivered 12 kills with five digs and two blocks. Cassidy Stiebing netted nine kills and six digs, while Sadie Hocke totaled 33 assists, seven digs and five kills for the Lady Dawgs.
Elsewhere, Mandeville's Lady Skippers won their first district match, sweeping Hammond, 25-4, 25-16, 25-9 led by Marissa LeCompte, who delivered seven kills with four blocks as she helped control play at the net. LeCompte is the daughter of Skippers' head football coach Guy LeCompte.
MHS' Caroline Haase netted six kills with four aces, while Sarah Rinaudo connected for 16 assists. Ali LeBlanc pulled up 10 digs and Amber Sheffield added six digs with two assists. MHS is 6-11 on the season and 1-2 in district play.
St. Scholastica Academy improved to 11-7, defeating Ursuline, 25-17, 16-25, 25-22, 25-14 topped by Gabby Shaix with 19 kills and a block. Emma Estapa connected for 46 assists and pulled up five digs. Jessica Lucio contributed 10 kills with two aces. Alexis Barcia added seven kills followed by Natalie Helm and Maddie Morris with six kills each for the Doves.
Lakeshore's Lady Titans stand at 16-3 after downing Riverdale, 25-5, 25-11, 25-10, led by Madison Grapp with 11 digs, 7 kills and six aces. Kacey Freeman contributed 12 digs, while Brie Tierney finished with 8 assists and 4 aces.
