Southeastern Louisiana University earned a 34-31 road victory Saturday over the Samford Bulldogs
SLU, which evened its record at 2-2, broke a two-game road losing streak. It was the third
consecutive road game for the Lions, who have a bye this week before returning to action at
Strawberry Stadium Oct. 5, hosting Incarnate Word in the Lions' Athletic Hall of Fame game.
SLU raced out to a 24-7 halftime advantage and then had to hold off a furious Samford
come-back-bid with the Bulldogs, scoring 24 second half points.
Lions' running back Kody Sutton rushed for 100 yards including TD runs of one and three yards
to help lead SLU to the win.
Lions' starting QB Bryan Bennett was pulled to give him some rest after being banged up a bit and was replaced by junior Jordan Barnett, who finished 10-of-17 for 155 yards with one interception.
Lions' senior place kicker Seth Sebastian was true on two field goals, connecting from 30 and
32 yards out.
