Archbishop Hannan girls soccer christens new field with 2-0 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas

The Archbishop Hannan Lady Hawks soccer team reached a milestone yesterday christening their new soccer field with a closely contested 2-0 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas to open district play. The teams battled through a scoreless first half before Hannan's Theresa Goldkamp netted the first goal with only 12 minutes remaining in the match. The Lady Hawks pushed the lead to 2-0 six minutes later with Maia LeBlanc finding the back of the net. Hannan's Shaye Tredinich was the winning keeper. Archbishop Hannan remained unbeaten on the season, moving to 10-0-2. Hannan coach Jerry Kennedy said the team was very excited to have their own home field at last. Kennedy went on to say it was very important to win the first district game of the season. "St. Thomas Aquinas is a good team and we have a strong rivalry with them. The game was hard fought and we are very happy to get the victory," Kennedy said.
