LSU receives commitment from St. Augustine High School prized recruit Leonard Fournette

St. Augustine running back Leonard Fournette commited to LSU during the Under Armour All-American game.

The LSU Tiger football team fresh off their 21-14 Outback Bowl victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes Wednesday received some outstanding news yesterday with the commitment of St. Augustine running back Leonard Fournette, who is considered the nation's top-rated recruit. Fournette, who competed in the Under Armnour All-America game in St. Petersburg, Fla. can sign Feb. 5 National Signing Day. Fournette, 6-1, 226-pounds, donned an LSU hat yesterday, as he chose the Tigers over Alabama and Texas, who were in the running for the outstanding prospect. Fournette, voted the USA Today's Offensive Player of the Year, totaled 3,697 all-purpose yards and tallied 25 touchdowns this season. Fournette has been recognized talent wise being compared to Minnesota Viking running back Adrian Peterson. In baseball terms, the LSU Tigers went 2-for-5 yesterday landing Fournette along with safety Jamal Adams out of Texas. Adams, who goes 6-0, 200-pounds, selected the Tigers over Florida. The Tigers were in the running for the services of Karr Cougar Devonte "Speedy" Noil, but he decided instead to commit to the Texas A & M Aggies. Another Karr prospect, Gerald Willis committed to Florida.
