New Orleans Pelicans on the road tonight battling the two-time defending NBA champion Miami Heat



The New Orleans Pelicans coming off a 99-82 defeat at the hands of the Indiana Pacers Saturday night return to action tonight facing off against the two-time defending NBA champion Miami Heat, who stand at 26-8, holding an eight and a half game lead over the Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference Southeastern Division. Tonight's road contest with the Heat closes out a four-game road swing for the 15-17 Pelicans, who trail the San Antonio Spurs by 10 games in the Western Conference Southwest Division. The Pels are 1-2 on the current road trip. In Saturday's loss to Indiana Eric Gordon led the way with 21 points including 3-of-5 shooting from behind the 3-point arc. Paul George, emerging as one of the top stars in the NBA, topped the Pacers posting a double-double, scoring 24 points with 10 rebounds followed by Lance Stephenson with 19 points. Former New Orleans' player David West contributed eight points with five assists, four rebounds and two blocked shots against his former teammates.
