Slidell Tigers boys basketball trims St. Paul's Wolves in district opener

 
The Slidell Tigers opened District 6-5A play Tuesday trimming the host St. Paul's Wolves 54-52. Slidell's Thaddeus Parker led all scorers with 13 points, while Blake Reynard, Ryan Rucker and Simon Blanche netted 11 points each. The Tigers, 10-6, took an early lead and the held off a fourth quarter rally by the Wolves. Slidell controlled the early tempo building a 13-3 first quarter lead, but St. Paul's battled back in the second period outscoring the Tigers 16-13. Slidell held a 26-19 halftime advantage. St. Paul's, which slipped to 7-10 on the season was led by Jordan Jacob with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Logan Jean netted 11. Timothy Bedford and Harrison Prieto added seven points each for the Wolves.
