St. Scholastica Academy drops its first match of the season

In local soccer action Saturday, the No. 1 ranked and previously unbeaten St. Scholastica Academy Doves dropped a tough match to No. 3 ranked Mt. Carmel 1-0 in a non-district match played at Pan American Stadium featuring two of the perenial power houses in Division I. The Doves, 10-1, out shot Mt. Carmel 20-3 in the match, but were unable to find the back of the net. Mt. Carmel upped its record to 9-2-2. The Doves named Maegan Due as their top defender. SSA head coach Mike Ortner said despite the tough loss, the team played well. "I hope we can learn from our mistakes and this loss makes us a stronger, more focused team," Ortner said. The Lake 94.7 will be featuring the St. Scholastica  Academy Doves and head coach Ortner on this Thursday night's edition of Northshore Sports, which will air from 7 to 8 o'clock from our title sponsor WOW Cafe located in the Clarion Inn & Suites on Highway 190 in Covington.
