Archbishop Hannan and Covington High still alive in state football title quests




On the high school football playoff scene, the Archbishop Hannan Hawks and the Covington High 
Fighting Lions continue their preparations in their quest for possible state titles. Archbishop Hannan, 11-2, the No. 4 seed in the newly designed LHSAA Division III, is vying for the state title taking on the No. 2 seed Calvary Baptist Cavaliers. The Division III LHSAA/State Farm Prep Classic championship game is scheduled for Dec. 12 in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome with a 12:30 kickoff. Hannan fourth-year head coach Pat Lambert and members of the Hawks' squad will be appearing on tomorrow night's Northshore Sports program airing from 6:30 to 8 p.m, originating from WOW Cafe in the Clarion Inn & Suites in Covington. We'll also be featuring the St. Paul's Cross Country state champion Wolves along with their head coach Terryl Chatham during tomorrow night's program.
The Covington High Fighting Lions, the No. 14 seed, continue to impress and remain alive in their hunt for a state title under successful first-year head coach Greg Salter. The 9-4 Lions are at home this Friday at Jack Salter Stadium hosting the No. 2 seed Parkway Panthers from Bossier City. Kick off is set for 7 o'clock. Covington advanced earning a 20-14 quarterfinal victory over No. 11 seed Central of Baton Rouge. Parkway advanced holding off No. 10 seed Zachary, 49-34.
