St. Paul's wins St. Tammany Parish Open edging Fontainebleau

In local wrestling news, the St. Paul's Wolves held off the competition to capture the 18th annual St. Tammany Parish Open tournament hosted by the Wolves on Saturday. The Wolves, who have
won 16 of the 18 annual tournaments captured their fourth in a row, winning the team title with 236 points edging the Fontainebleau Bulldogs at 228 points in a truly competitive meet. Mandeville finished third with 132 points led by Garrin Pelligrin, who was voted the Paul Fradella Outstanding Wrestler. Pelligrin won the 138-pound Parish title posting a 3-0 mark. Pearl River came in fourth with 104 points followed by
Covington with 62 points and Northshore, which totaled 36 points. St. Paul's coach Craig Ketelsen said it was an excellent, highly competitive Parish Tournament. "It was one of the most exciting tournaments ever. The quality of Northshore wrestling has improved dramatically. We were pushed to the limit by Fontainebleau," said Ketelsen.
