Covington High gave it their all playing their hearts out Friday night in the Class 5A semifinal game against the Parkway Panthers, but the Fighting Lions' dramatic season ended suffering a 28-27 loss at Jack Salter Stadium. The No. 2 seed Parkway, 13-0, advances to the  LHSAA/State Farm Prep Classic Class 5A championship game Saturday in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome with an 8 o'clock kickoff. Kudos to Covington High, which finishes the season 9-5 under first-year head coach Greg Salter in a dramatic playoff run. This year's  Fighting Lions brought back that winning playoff tradition for the school as they secured their first playoff victory since 2002 making their run into the semifinals.
