Covington Fighting Lions appearing on Northshore Sports

 
Northshore Sports returns to the airwaves Thursday night and this week we'll be featuring the Covington High Fighting Lions and their first-year head coach Greg Salter.
The 6-4 Lions finished tied for second in the District 6-5A race behind co-champion St. Paul's Wolves and the Mandeville Skippers.
Covington enters this week's bi-district round of the Class 5A playoffs as the No. 14 seed and will host the No. 19 Airline Vikings at Jack Salter Stadium.
Other District 6-5A playoff participants include the No. 12 seeded Mandeville Skippers, hosting No. 21 John Ehret. No. 16 Ponchatoula is home at The Swamp, hosting No. 17 Haughton. The Slidell Tigers under first-year coach Larry Favre slipped in as the No. 32 seed and travels to No. 1 Acadiana.
St. Paul's, the co-district champs, under the new playoff format, will compete in Division I along with nine other teams including the No. 1 seed St. Augustine Purple Knights led by the No. 1 player in the nation Leonard Fournette. The Wolves enter as a No. 7 seed and will host Archbishop Shaw, the No. 10 seed at Hunter Stadium.
