Southeastern Louisiana University's Lions, 8-2, and leading the Southland Conference with a 5-0
record, face probably their toughest challenge of the season tomorrow afternoon, hosting the
No. 4 ranked Sam Houston State Bearkats, the two-time defending conference champs.
Sam Houston State, 8-2, is 4-1 in conference play trailing the Lions by one game.
The Lions, ranked No. 14 in both the Sports Network and Coaches Poll, enter tomorrow's 3
o'clock contest at Strawberry Stadium on an impressive seven-game winning streak sparked primarily by explosive offensive play from junior quarterback Bryan Bennet, who was named the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time. He also won the Sports Network National Co-Offensive Player of the Week honor for his performance last week leading the Lions to their 58-31 road victory over No. 24 Central Arkansas. Xavier Roberson was named the National Kick Returner of the Week. He returned a kickoff 90 yards for a score and leads the nation in kickoff return average returning kicks at a 41.3 yard clip. The enthusiastic Lions fans continue to Lion Up!
