Detroit's Max Scherzer and Los Angeles' Clayton Kershaw win Cy Young Awards

The Major League Baseball Cy Young Award winners have been announced by the Baseball Writers'
Association of America voting results released yesterday. Los Angeles Dodgers' left hander Clayton Kershaw captured the National League honor, his second, winning it back in 2011 and he was the runner up last year.
Kershaw, 25, received 29 out of a possible 30 first place votes finishing just short of a unanimous outcome. He led the Majors with a stingy 1.83 earned run average, gaining his third consecutive NL ERA title.
Kershaw is the first Dodgers' pitcher to win multiple Cy Young Awards since Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax, who won three prestigious awards.
Detroit Tigers' ace Max Scherzer won his first Cy Young Award posting a 21-3 record, winning his first 13 decisions. The 29-year-old Scherzer earned 28 out of a possible 30 first place votes, helping to lead the Tigers to the American League Central crown. Scherzer registered a 2.90 ERA.
The Baseball Writers' Association of America will unveil the 2013 American League and National League MVP awards today.
