District 6-5A football teams advance to the playoffs


A number of other District 6-5A teams have advanced to the playoffs. The District co-champion Mandeville Skippers under head coach Guy LeCompte, shared the title with the St. Paul's Wolves. Mandeville, the No. 12 seed, hosts No. 21 John Ehret. MHS has made two consecutive semifinal playoff appearances and
looks to make another deep run in the playoffs led by senior quarterback Glen Cuiellette, who has passed for 2,038 yards with 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Cuiellette's leading receiver is Parker Orgeron with 30 receptions for 472 yards and eight TDs. linebacker Matthew Scanlon leads the Skippers' defense with 80 tackles including 42 solo stops followed by linebacker Mason Lemieux with 72 tackles on 46 primary stops.
The Pontchatoula Green Wave, the No. 16 seed, hosts No. 17 Haughton at The Swamp tomorrow
night.  The Green Wave is led by quarterback Christian Campbell.
No. 32 Slidell under first-year coach Larry Favre, 5-5, heads to No. 1 seed Acadiana. Tigers' running back Montel Williams has rushed for 1,647 yards with 20 touchdowns.
St. Paul's is a No. 7 seed in the Division I bracket and is hosting No. 10 Archbishop Shaw tomorrow night at Hunter Stadium with 10 teams vying for a title in that Division under this year's new playoff format.
