St. Paul's Wolves dominate Northshore Metro Championships


The Northshore Metro Cross Country Championships were run yesterday at St. Thomas Aquinas High
School in Hammond and in the boys competition the  St. Paul's Wolves showed they were the unmatched class of the field dominating with a truly superb team performance, taking the top four positions. The Wolves
garnered the team title with an amazing 18 points. St. Paul's blew away the 12-team field with John
Curtis finishing a distant second with 103 points followed by Mandeville in third place at 111 points.
St. Paul's senior Zachary Albright topped the field taking first place with a time of 14:41.12 edging freshman teammate Eric Coston at 14:49.83. D. C. Lipani took third at 15:32.50 followed by teammate Kraemer Jackson at 15:33.30.Northshore's Noah Martin came in fifth place 15:34.43 followed by Mandeville's Dylan Heck 15:36.08. Ponchatoula's Isaiah Gilbert was seventh as St. Paul's Spencer Albright was next followed by Northshore's John Neal and Patrick Taylor High School's Stephen Torry rounding out the top 10.
The boys Class 5A state cross country meet takes place Nov. 19 at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. 
In the girls race, First Baptist Christian School's Gabrielle Jennings won the individual title with a time of 17:22.57 holding off Holden High School's Clarissa Smith at 17:34.89. Patrick Taylor's Celia Zaeringer was third followed by Mandeville's Olivia Murphy and St. Scholastica Academy's Carley Boyce, who finished
fifth. St. Thomas Aquinas' Bobbi Amar came in sixth followed by two Mandeville runners, Kylie
Touchard and Claire Crosby. SSA's Ally Seals took ninth followed by Ponchatoula's Jenna Reno
rounding out the top 10.
Mandeville's Lady Skippers won the team title with 53 points in the 12-team field. SSA took second with 73 points followed by St. Thomas Aquinas at 104 points. Fontainebleau came in fourth, 109 points followed by Ponchatoula with 113 points.
