LHSAA/State Farm Volleyball State Tournament visits Pontchartrain Center



The Louisiana High School Athletic Association/State Farm Volleyball State Tournament makes its way to the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner this week beginning with the quarterfinals set for tomorrow.
The state volleyball tournament runs through Saturday when the five Division champions will be crowned.
In Division I, the Fontainebleau Lady Bulldogs, the No. 9 seed, the state runner up last season and the state champion two-years ago, face off with No. 1 seed St. Joseph's Academy, tomorrow night in the quarterfinals with the match set for 6:10 on Court one.
Fontainebleau advanced sweeping both of its opponents, downing No. 24 Chalmette in the bi-district round and No. 8 Dominican in Monday's regional round.
St. Joseph's had a first round bye and swept No. 17 McKinley in Saturday's regional round.
Moving to Division II, No. 2 Lakeshore, 35-6, battles No. 7 Sam Houston tomorrow night at 8
o'clock.
No. 5 seed, St. Scholastica Academy, squares off with No. 4 Ben Franklin. The Doves-Ben
Franklin match is set for 6:10 tomorrow night. The Doves drew a first round bye and battled a tough No. 12 Belle Chasse team Monday in the regional round, winning in five sets.
In Division IV, the No. 5 Pope John Paul II Lady Jaguars, the unbeaten district champs, who had a first round bye, swept No. 12 Episcopal in the regional round. The Lady Jags face off with No. 4 Riverside Academy tomorrow morning' at10:50 on Court 2.
