LSU's defense turned in a superb effort and the running game did its thing led by junior Terrence Magee as the Tigers rolled past Texas A & M and former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel 34-10 Saturday afternoon in Death Valley.
LSU and Texas A & M are 8-3 on the season and stand at 4-3 in the SEC West standings. LSU
closes out the regular season Friday night at home, hosting the 3-8 Arkansas Razorbacks, who
are 0-7 in conference play.
Magee, a graduate of Franklinton High School and a former Class 4A state champion with the
Demons, rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown, averaging 11.5 yards per rush as the Tigers'
ground game controlled the clock. Magee, who is majoring in sport administration, credited the offensive line with getting the job done, saying they did a great job. In all, LSU rushed for 324 yards, averaging 5.9 yards per carry.
Zach Mettenberger passed for 193 yards hitting Jarvis Landry for two scores, covering 10 and 40
yards. Manziel had a lackluster performance, hitting on just 16-of-41 attempts just 39 percent for 224
yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. He was sacked twice and rushed for just 54 yards as
the Aggies' potent offense was limited to just 299 total yards.
