SLU's Bryan Bennett adds more awards to his resume

Southeastern Louisiana University continued its current winning streak moving to seven consecutive victories with the Lions cruising past No. 24 Central Arkansas 58-31 Saturday on the road.
SLU moved to 8-2 and remains atop the Southland Conference standings with a 5-0 mark. The Lions
moved up in both polls and stand at No. 14 in the TSN and Coaches Poll.
Lions' junior QB Bryan Bennett was named the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and also garnered the Sports Network National Co-Offensive Player of the Week, sharing the award with Eastern Washington's Vernon Washington. Bennett was recognized following his outstanding effort in the Lions' victory over Central Arkansas. Bennett rushed for a team-high 142 yards with two TDs on 17 carries, placing him second on the school's all-time list with 13 rushing scores. Bennett helped the Lions rush for a season-high 343 yards, while amassing 545 yards of total offense. Bennett
also passed for 202 yards, clicking on two touchdown passes in the lopsided win.
Bennett tops the Lions with 763 yards rushing and has thrown for 2,069 yards with 13 passing TDs.
SLU returns home to Strawberry Stadium Saturday afternoon for a 3 o'clock encounter with the No. 4 Sam Houston State Bearkats, the two-time defending Southland Conference champion.
